Internationa Festival Dancing with Joy
I am really enjoying this series and I think it is taking me in a new direction. Figures have always been more challenging for me and I am ready for a challenge. With this series on the International Festival I am working to get the action of the characters giving a sense of movement and excitement.

Playing the Kora from the Heart 11x14 Pastel on BFK Paper
Playing the Kora from the Heart 11x14 Pastel on BFK Paper
A painting from the series of the International Festival in Lawton Oklahoma. This instrument that is being played in this scene is a Kora, a west African 21 string harp-lute that produced a very beautiful calming sound. The group was the KUMAASI African Ensemble - they have a website but it has not been updated so it may not be available but here is the link: http://www.kumaasi.org/cgi-bin/events.pl

Arts for All Gala Donation - Dancing with Great Energy 11x14 Pastel
This is the start of a series of pastels that I am doing of the International Festival. This woman was part of a group preforming African dance and traditional music. The crowd loved them.
This piece was donated to our local Arts for All Gala and will be auctioned for the arts in our community.

The Perfect Relationship - Oil on Canvas Panel - Painting of Shirt, Tie and Earrings
The Perfect Relationship - Oil on Canvas Panel - Painting of Shirt, Tie and Earrings
This one was meant to represent a relationship that falls together without much effort and is not yet finish. Maybe that is the true nature of relationships even when it seems to fall together maybe not all of it does. This painting may never get finished.

The Perfect Husband 22x14--Blue Polka Dot Tie and Shirt
The Perfect Husband 22x14 gesso and oil on BFK - Blue Polka Dot Tie and Shirt
This is the image that started my tie series. The perfect husband does not exist but we single women can always hope. The sleeves are rolled up because he is a hard worker, it's blue because he is loyal, the collar is unbuttoned because he is easy going, it's wrinkled because he is humble, and the polka dot tie shows he has some class. What a great guy!I have been cleaning out my studio and have not been painting much. However, even though the studio is not organized yet I had to start painting again. So you will see some more post soon.

Smooth with Yellow Tie 5x7 Oil on Canvas Panel -Painting of Blue Suite, White Shirt, and Yellow Tie
Was the tie invented by a woman as revenge for high heals? Just a thought.
This painting was started with an underpainting of yellow over the entire canvas which gives the painting a beautiful glow.

Another subject that keeps showing up in my paintings is beer. Beers of all kinds, shapes, sizes, and taste.

Suited Up Blue Tie Oil on Canvas Panel
I love a man in a suite and tie. There are several subjects that I will continue to come back to in my paintings. This is just one of the subjects. It is interesting that a man can wear the same cut of suite in a different color with a new tie and have a whole new look.

Daily Painting -- A Little Cold 3.5x2.5 Watercolor and Pencil
This ACEO was inspired by a scene from childhood when I used to ride horse with my parents. Yes sometimes even in the snow. But I was a kid so it was fun.

Rocky - Art on the Fly
For this ACEO I used watercolor, pen, and pencil. The paper was first given a watercolor wash. Once that was dry I challenged myself to make something out of the random pattern that was produced. Another way to improve your artistic skills.
